Private Charter Cruises & Boat Trips
from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Custom, Private Boat Charters, and Adventure Cruises aboard the 54-ft motor yacht Great Bear II
Private or Group Boat Charters-Ocean adventures on B.C.'s West Coast.
PRIVATE BOAT CHARTERS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS AND FILMMAKERS
Our ships have been used as a home and platform to amateur and professional photographers and film-makers. Many have joined us on B.C.'s central and north coasts, in the Great Bear Rainforest, to photograph and film Spirit Bears, Grizzly Bears, Wolves and Whales.
International film producers have travelled with us, such as "Ushuaia Nature" for "L'Esprit de la Foret", (viewed by 8 million people in Europe). Even Hollywood producers have used our ship for a movie starring Kurt Russell and Courtney Cox!
The British film crew from Image Impact, led by the renowned adventurer, filmmaker and naturalist Nigel Marven, traveled with us for 9 days. While filming, the group was led by fully certified, professional bear guides, Eric Boyum and Doug Neasloss.
Some photographers join scheduled trips, but for those that have a strong focus and a certain time line, a private custom trip offers them a trip geared just to their interests and agenda.
We SPECIALIZE in Small Group Charters, of 2 - 5 guests on scheduled trips. With fewer guests onboard and an itinerary based on wildlife sightings and your interests, a Custom/Private Charter Cruise could be best for getting the shots you want.
Our professional, fully certified bear guides ensure unparalleled wildlife viewing while maintaining the safety of our small groups.
CUSTOM AND PRIVATE CHARTER CRUISES FOR YOUR FAMILY OR GROUP OF FRIENDS
Imagine that you and your family or friends are boarding our 54 foot ship,
Great Bear II, for a private charter cruise on British Columbia's spectacular West Coast. The possibilities are endless!
Our Chef would be happy to discuss your food and beverage requirements when you charter a private boat tour.
JOIN US ANYWHERE ON B.C.'S COAST
In May and June and then again in August, September and early October, join us on the central coast of B.C. in the Great Bear Rainforest for unparalleled wildlife viewing, whale watching and to learn about the unique cultures of the Coastal First Nations People.
In July join us in Haida Gwaii in Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site.
These are multi day trips with guests staying onboard the ship over a number of days. Please contact us with dates and places you are most interested in.
Between November and April, we do not offer scheduled tours, but we are happy to talk to you about a Private multi day cruise along the south coast of B.C. Join us to explore areas such as the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa Inlet, to name a few.
If you are looking for Whale Watching on the South Coast, we recommend that you contact Prince of Whales Whale Watching or Stubbs Whale Watching.
Call or email us
with dates you have in mind and ideas for where and what you'd like to experience and we'll help you plan the private custom cruise of a lifetime for you, your family or friends!
We specialize in small group charters with a maximum of 8 guests on day trips and a maximum of 5 guests on scheduled overnight cruises. On Private (Custom) charters, in certain circumstances, we may be able to accommodate 6 on overnight cruises.
Small groups ensure more privacy and personalized service for our guests, and, less impact on the environment and the wildlife we visit, something that is extremely important to us.
The coast of British Columbia provides endless subjects for artists!
Spring on the north coast is the perfect time for landscape artists due to:
- The blue skies of June highlighting mountain peaks still draped in snow
- Waterfalls cascading over thousands of feet of polished granite
- Lush green estuaries carpeted in wildflowers
If you've enjoyed Haida art or the paintings of Emily Carr, you'll want to join us in Haida Gwaii at the Queen Charlotte Islands. Sitting and sketching beneath the old Haida poles is a powerful experience.
Artists have traveled with us to the mainland inlets of the Great Bear Rainforest to sketch and paint these soul-stirring ancient forests and the unique wildlife that lives there. Each season in the Great Bear Rainforest provides amazing colour and natural events, providing artists with endless possibilities!
With our smallest group sizes, our guests enjoy a more intimate experience wherever we travel. You will:
- Discover landscapes of immeasurable beauty
- Lush green estuaries
- Bears enjoying sedges or salmon in front of mortuary poles in Sgang Gwaay
- Whales as they breach or bubble net
- Ospreys in flight
- Visit with our friends and teachers in First Nations villages along the coast
Our small group private boat charters ensure that we leave a minimal ecological impact on the lands we visit and the homes of the First Nation's Peoples we pass through.
When you ride with us, you get a greater degree of care and attention than you would if you were on a tour with a crowd of tourists!
Our chef would be happy to discuss your food and beverage requirements for your retreat.

Imagine sitting all alone with that special person, on the forward deck of the ship as magnificent scenery passes by. Appetizers with fine wine, or as an accompaniment to a meal could be prepared and served to you.
Beach comb, walk a white sandy beach, enjoy a picnic lunch and watch the sun set on the ocean.
Take two of the kayaks onboard and:
- Explore the shoreline
- Enjoy the abundant intertidal marine life
- Enjoy the serenity of your anchorage
Join us on B.C.'s central coast for a visit to one of the west coast's most pristine, remote and romantic beaches. Walk pure white sandy beaches, edged in turquoise water. Walk trails through ancient stands of cedar and hemlock. Watch humpback whales, as they seem to perform - tail lobbing, flipper slapping and full breaches - sure to take your breath away.
Back onboard the ship, enjoy the privacy of your own suite - a private stateroom with Queen size bed, with the adjoining stateroom as your dressing room and your own private bathroom. Fresh flowers and chocolates await you.
Our chef would be happy to discuss your food and beverage requirements for this very special trip.
Whether it's groups of friends, a family, photographers or a film crew, a retreat for artists or a very special romantic getaway, we'd love to help you plan your own custom trip. An afternoon onboard or an evening, a weekend or longer - it's all up to you.
"We came with a dream---we leave with more conscience. We have understood the message of the Spirit Bear. Thanks to you to be so close to Nature." ~
Michele, videographer, "Ushuaia", Paris, France
"The trip, as last year, was a highlight of the Fowler year. Your knowledge and passion is truly inspirational to all of us. As wonderful as the trips are, the friendships with you are the most memorable and special aspects of these coastal experiences!" ~
The Fowler Family, Calgary, Alberta
