Great Bear Images by Trish Boyum

A few of photographer Trish Boyum's 30,000+ images taken in the Great Bear Rainforest on the central coast of B.C. and in Haida Gwaii, are shared as inspiration to renew our connectivity with the natural world.

Most of the photos being offered for sale, were taken in the Great Bear Rainforest in the territories of the Heiltsuk People of Bella Bella, the Kitasoo Xai’xais People of Klemtu, the Gitga’at People of Hartley Bay, and in Haida Gwaii.

Amidst the soul stirring land and seascapes of the Great Bear Rainforest, it is the trust of the animals that Trish finds most inspiring. It is here in these lands of immeasurable beauty, that Trish has learned the most profound lessons of her life, and who better to teach her than the bears themselves. Learning who bears really are: patient, tolerant, emotionally complex, and even with a sense of humour, instills understanding, patience and tolerance in us. There is much to learn to help ensure not only the survival of bears and their wild homes, but our own survival as well.

When immersed in nature, camera in hand, Trish is still surprised by how quickly thoughts of life’s challenges are replaced with the calm and healing that this connectivity with the natural world brings her.

INSPIRATION for the logo that appears on our Outerwear and on our MV Great Bear II...

Our love of and respect for bears... Grizzly, Black, and Spirit Bears, our passionate dedication to their conservation, their important relationship with their environment, and their intertwining in the cultures of the First Nations People in whose traditional lands we visit... were all inspiration for featuring bears so prominently in the name of our ship AND on our logo.

Tsimshian/Haida artist Justin Clifton's image of the bear tracks with the head of a salmon inside the bear tracks symbolizes the important symbiotic relationship between the bears, the salmon, the Great Bear Rainforest... and the First Nations people whose traditional lands they share.

We are honoured that Justin agreed to create the bear tracks for us.

If you would like to order a jacket, cap or other gear from us, please place your order on or before March 15 for spring trips and on or before June 15 for fall trips if you want us to have them waiting for you at the start of your trip.

**Shipping is not included in the price of our outerwear nor in the price of Trish's photos, should you like to have these items shipped to you.**
